  • It is with regret that the committee has agreed to postpone the 63rd Women of Scotland Lunch which was to be held on 24th April due to Coronavirus concerns. It is our intention to hold the lunch on 23rd April 2021 – please put that date in your diary. We will be supporting the same worthwhile charity, Bowel Cancer UK, with the usual excellent line up of speakers and our superb prize draw. Regrettably Bowel Cancer UK will lose out this year however if you would like to make a donation our Just Giving page will remain open. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/women-of-scotland-lunch-2020
  • We are so grateful to Joseph Bonnar for once again kindly giving us the top prize in our prize draw – a pair of rose gold hoop earrings set with one carat of brilliant cut diamonds. They are simply stunning! You can get a ticket for the prize draw, even if you can’t make the lunch.
  • So pleased to announce that this year’s charity is Bowel Cancer UK in Scotland. All funds raised from the 2020 Women of Scotland Lunch will directly fund Bowel Cancer UK’s ‘Improving Surgery, Saving Lives Appeal’. This appeal will establish Scotland’s first-ever Colorectal Cancer Surgical Research Chair in partnership with the world-renowned Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd).
  • We were delighted to hand over a cheque for £25,000 to Mental Health Foundation Scotland, as raised at our lunch in April. Here our Chair Laura Lambie (centre), with the 2019 Chair Ann Garvie, hands the cheque to Michael Wilson, Chief Exec of MHF Scotland. Thanks to all those who came to the lunch and donated so generously on the day and before and after the lunch.
  • Congratulations to Anna Brown who won the Investec hamper. The footsie closed at 7440.6 on Mon 29th April and she guessed 7442 so was the closest.

  • Congratulations to all the winners of our prize draw. The Joseph Bonnar vintage star pendant was won by Lorraine Wilson; the Arisaig House 2 nights DBB was won by Nicola Easson; Debbie Butler won the Nyetimber Vineyard tour; Fiona Leslie won the Denzil Skinner & Partners voucher; the Sheana Stephen Necklace, Brooch and Earrings was won by Claire McCready, the Sheila Fleet Orkney Design Jewellery was won by Fiona Martin, the night at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Glasgow was won by Ann Westwood and the 2 nights at Four Seasons Hotel, St Fillans was won by Elizabeth Warnock. Thanks to our very generous prize draw sponsors.
  • Our 62nd lunch was a huge success raising over £25,000 for Mental Health Foundation Scotland with 430 attendees. This will provide much needed funds for a new project to start work with adolescent mothers living in Scotland. This is one area that is under resourced but remains a serious gap in both policy and service provision in Scotland. The prestigious line-up of speakers entertained the guests expertly with anecdotes and moving sentiments. Thanks to all who came and supported it and to all our generous sponsors.
  • The 2019 lunch is on 26th April at the Radisson Blu Hotel, 301 Argyle St, Glasgow G2 8DL. Guests can arrive from 11am, the reception begins at 12 noon and lunch starts sharp at 12.30pm. It should end about 3.30/4pm.
  • Welcome to Laura Sinclair who has just joined our committee. Working as a solicitor for Turcan Connell in Edinburgh, Laura trained in London and her legal and organisational skills are a huge asset to the team.
